Terms and conditions

Our Membership Terms and Conditions

  • Members must present their membership card when accessing our leisure facilities so that member benefits can be applied.
  • We reserve the right to amend the rules at any time. This may include the membership fee payable, opening and closing times, membership benefits, the facilities available, and our activity programmes and timetables.
  • The minimum age to access the gym is 11 years. If you are aged 11 - 14, you must be accompanied by someone aged 16 or over for all gym sessions, except supervised junior gym sessions.
  • Swimming participation ratios apply for adults and children. If your party does not meet the required ratio, entry may be refused.
  • Customers must wear suitable and appropriate footwear, exercise clothing, and swimwear (including in sauna and steam areas where required). Anyone not suitably dressed may be asked to change or leave the facility.
  • Smoking (including vapes), alcohol, illegal drugs, and glass containers are not permitted on the premises.
  • Any equipment breakage or damage must be reported immediately to a member of staff (a gym instructor or reception).
  • Customers must follow all safety guidance, signage, and rules for each facility at all times.
  • We cannot accept responsibility for any service or equipment that is unavailable due to fault, maintenance, or breakdown.
  • We are not responsible for loss or damage to personal belongings. Lockers should be used where available, and valuables should not be left unattended.
  • All gym users must complete a safety brief, including watching the safety video. New members must also complete a gym induction. If our instructors advise it, customers are responsible for seeking medical advice (for example, from their GP) before starting an exercise programme.
  • Fraudulent use of any membership or concession card may result in the card being retained and membership access being withdrawn.
  • You can cancel your membership at any time with no penalty. Your cancellation will take effect at the end of your current payment period, and we are unable to offer pro-rata refunds. To cancel, please speak to our customer service team at your leisure centre or email business.support@hcandl.co.uk. If you are unable to do either, you can also cancel the Direct Debit through your bank.
