Easter Holiday Activities

This Easter, children, young people and families can enjoy a range of free activities across our pools, leisure centres and zoos as part of the Healthy Holidays programme. These activities are funded through Hull City Council and the Department for Education as part of the Holiday Activities and Food programme (HAF).

Junior Football Camp

Multisport Madness

Paddle Sports with Kingston Kayak Club

image of kayaking bannerDive into beginner paddle sport sessions with Kingston Kayak Club! Try your hand at canoeing and kayaking, perfect for ages 8 to 15. These sessions offer a mix of expert instruction, games, and plenty of fun, so expect to get wet!

Kingston Kayak Club (KKC) is a friendly, family-focused club that provides top-quality equipment, making it easy and affordable for newcomers to get started.

  • What to bring: Swimwear, a T-shirt or long-sleeve top, water shoes (if possible), and a full change of dry clothes for after the session.
  • All sessions include a free packed lunch to keep you fuelled for fun on the water, thanks to the Healthy Holidays Activities and Food Programme.

Free Junior Swimming

Our free junior swimming sessions are back this Easter as part of Healthy Holidays 2026! No booking needed, just turn up during the session, complete a quick Healthy Holidays form, and make a splash!

  • Ages 15 and under
  • Children aged 8 and under must be accompanied by a paying adult. Sessions can get busy, so we recommend arriving early!

Zoo Activities

Visit our animal residents at Pickering Park Aviary or the Animal Education Centre this Easter! From themed adventures to nature crafts, there is plenty to discover on our exclusive keeper-led walk around the site. Perfect for ages 5 to 11.

  • A free healthy lunch is provided for participants, thanks to the Healthy Holidays Activities and Food Programme.

Week 1: An Egg-cellent Adventure

The Easter bunny needs your help! Following a visit to the animals at the zoo, she has left behind some of her Easter egg collection. Can you help find the missing eggs to reveal the egg-citing clues and uncover some amazing facts about our animals?

Week 2: Minibeast Detectives

Love them or hate them, minibeasts are a very important part of the world that we live in. Come along and join in the fun of our crafts, games, and activities, including decorating an insect mask and designing your own bug hotel. Search previously unexplored areas around the zoo to see what incredible creatures we might discover living on our doorstep!

Easter Family Skate Events at Hull Ice Arena

Looking for something fun to do with the kids this Easter holiday? Hull Ice Arena has two themed skating events planned that promise plenty of family-friendly fun on the ice.

  • 2 April 2026
  • 2pm to 4pm 

Step into a magical winter wonderland at the Princess Skate event. Designed especially for families with younger children, this enchanting session invites little skaters to glide around the ice while their favourite princess characters make special appearances.

There will be opportunities to meet the princesses off the ice as well as sparkling on-ice performances throughout the session, creating magical moments your children will remember long after the skates come off. Whether it’s your child’s first time on the ice or they already love skating, it’s a lovely Easter treat for families with children under 8.

POP BANNER
K-Pop Skate
  • 9 April 2026
  • 12 noon to 2pm

A week later the arena turns up the energy with a vibrant K-Pop Skate session. Inspired by the colour, style and performance culture of K-Pop, this lively skate will feature huge K-Pop hits, themed character appearances and exciting on-ice showcase performances.

Expect music, lights and high-energy entertainment while you skate – perfect for families looking for something a little different this Easter.

Good to know

  • Both sessions include skate hire with your ticket, making it easy for families to join in even if you don’t have your own skates.
  • Skate hire sizes start from children’s size 5T.
  • A limited number of skate aids are available to hire from the box office on arrival (additional fee).
  • Families are encouraged to arrive promptly at the start of the session to collect skates and be ready for the performances.

Supervision rules

For safety on the ice:

  • Children under 8 must be supervised by an adult on the ice.
  • Ages 3 and under: 1 adult per child.
  • Ages 4–7: 1 adult can accompany up to 2 children.
  • All children under 12 must have an adult present with a rink-side spectator ticket.
  • One rink-side adult may supervise up to 4 children aged 8–11.

With magical princess moments one week and a high-energy K-Pop celebration the next, these themed skating sessions are a great way to add some excitement to the Easter holidays for Hull families.

 

Zoo Explorers Easter Adventures

Join our expert team at the Animal Education Centre or Pickering Park Aviary for an unforgettable Easter experience! Our Zoo Explorer sessions offer a unique behind the scenes feel, combining education with creativity.

Every session includes an exclusive keeper-led walk around the site, where children can learn amazing facts about our animal residents directly from the people who care for them. From "egg-cellent" Easter trails and seasonal clues to becoming a minibeast detective and designing your own bug hotel, there is plenty to discover on our doorstep!

  • Recommended for ages 5 to 11
  • Price: £5 per child
  • Please note these sessions are separate from our Healthy Holidays offer and are available to all residents. Lunch is not included.
